The Ultimate Field Trip – where homeschoolers
from around the country meet up & roam The World…
Walt Disney World!
Bug and I at UFT 2012

In 111 days I will be checking in to Walt Disney World for The
Ultimate Field Trip
. The Ultimate Field Trip is an awesome time for homeschoolers across
the country to come together in one of the best family destinations on
earth…Walt Disney World! This year’s UFT is in its 9th year and will take
place from September 2-7, but because I can’t wait, my family will be going
down a few days sooner.

The Ultimate Field Trip is a Homeschool Field Trip sponsored by 3D
Travel Company. With all kinds of events, like Meet-ups, scavenger
hunts and more, it is a great time to take on the World with your family and
make new friends while getting the chance to reconnect with old ones. We can’t
wait until this year’s event!

Blue Moon over Pop Century

One problem I am having is that I am really struggling on where to stay.
Do I stay in one of our favorite resorts, Fort
Wilderness, and camp?
Return to the fun Value resort we stayed in last UFT, Disney’s Pop Century
Resort? Or do I return to a place that I was able to stay at during my agent
training week but haven’t experienced with my family (Port Orleans – Riverside [in a Royal Room!], Animal Kingdom
Lodge [zebras and giraffes outside my balcony!] and Saratoga Springs Resorts [with a view and quick walk away from Downtown Disney)? There are so many things to consider!
Location, transportation, convenience, food, comfort….ugghh, I need to get
cracking!

Fort Home at Christmas

Do you like to surprise your family with a trip to Walt Disney World or
is everyone involved in the planning in your house? One way I surprise is with
new shirts, cute sundresses and other little Disney-themed trinkets that
‘Tinkerbell’ leaves in our room or campsite while we are in the parks, like
when Elfis showed up with Tinkerbell and new holiday hats to be worn during
Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party during our Christmas camp out at Fort Wilderness
this past December.

Elfis & Tink
One way I build up my own excitement is by finding things
throughout the time leading up to the trip to add to the magic when it begins.
I can always spot a good sale, and have a dedicated hiding spot for all the little
treasures I sock away. Sometimes I do so well at finding great deals, I have too much stuff for one
trip, so some get put back for the next time or redirected to the ‘present closet’. One great thing about doing it
this way is that we don’t overspend on souvenirs, we’ve even had trips where they didn’t even ask for anything at all! I had to prod near the last day to see if Bug wanted a special keepsake! This is one good
trick that saves me money, and shelf space!
Heading to the Christmas party wearing the hats Elfis & Tink left us!

My kids know we are going to UFT, so there is no surprise there. Bug
loves to plan as much as I do, heck, she picks half our ADRs (that’s Advanced
Dining Reservations in Disney-speak), but I sure would like to add some surprises
in, I just haven’t decided how yet. La Nouba, Wishes desert party, Pirate’s
League? There really are a lot of choices!

I do think I will let the resort I decide on be one of the surprises. Of
course, if I am not packing up camping gear a few days before the trip, they
will know we aren’t staying at Fort
Wilderness, but I could
keep the rest a secret.

One surprise I
always like to do is decorate the room. This was our window decor for UFT 2012.
